How to care for the clip-ins
For daily maintenance, spritz the hair with a spray bottle mixture of a moisture rich conditioner + water, and carefully style using your fingers. Remember when you are styling your set to treat it as if it is your real hair; moisturise with a lubricating water/conditioner mixture or moisturiser every time you wear them and for additional shine, seal in the moisture with a light oil of your choice. Don’t be heavy handed with the oil a small amount will do.
How to wash the hair
Once the hair arrives you may want to wash the clip-ins. To wash them we recommend washing them in a sink with warm water. Add some shampoo to the water, give it a swirl and soak the hair for up to 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water. If your extensions are new or the amount of product build-up is minimal then opt to conditioner wash (co-wash) your set instead, as shampoo can dry out the hair.Â
Once you have rinsed out the shampoo/co-wash follow up with a deep conditioner. Saturate each weft with the conditioner in a downward motion, and gently detangle the hair with your fingers or a wide tooth comb/brush from bottom to top. Wrap the hair in a plastic shower cap or plastic bag, and let the conditioner permeate the hair for 30 minutes before rinsing again with cold water. Afterwards, apply a leave-in conditioner/curl definer, and let each weft air dry on a towel overnight. Once dry, clip in and go!
How to style the hair
If the curl pattern is too defined you can use your fingers or a wide tooth comb/brush to manually manipulate the texture to match your own hair. When doing this be sure to take care and ensure you work from the bottom up. We suggest you avoid using excessive heat to curl or straighten the hair as this will disrupt the curl pattern and may result in the loss of the curl pattern altogether. If you wish to curl the hair, try to use heat-free methods such as braid outs, twist outs, bantu knots, flexi rods and rollers to get the desired curl. Use a curl definer or leave-in conditioner when styling your clip-ins to enhance curl definition. Gently apply the product using your hands and fingers and evenly distribute the product throughout your clip-ins. If you do use heat always use a heat protectant.
How to blend the hair extensions
Effective blending comes down to having clip-ins that match your texture or by modifying your texture to match the curl pattern of the clip-ins.
To blend the clip-ins with your hair you can use no heat methods such as braid outs, twist outs, perm rods, flexi rods and curlformers or heat methods such as a curling wand/tong and hair straighteners. This is best achieved when your hair has been freshly washed, deep-conditioned and moisturised. Remember to use a heat protectant on your own hair.
After your chosen styling method you can blend your leave out with the clips-ins by twisting your hair with the clip-in extensions as if it is your own hair. If you have a set of Wild Kink clip-ins you can gently brush your hair with the clip-ins to blend.
You can also twist and braid the Wild Coily, Wild Curly and Wild Kink clip-ins to achieve your desired curl pattern. Just make sure to wet or dampen the clip-ins and add a curl definer before braiding or twisting.
How to detangle the hair
When detangling the hair always add moisture by wetting or spritzing the hair with a water mixture to ease the detangling process and minimise breakage. Then carefully use your fingers to loosen any knots or tangles.
